Just another fun day at the zoo

We built with blocks...the usual, houses, roads, bridges, etc. over and over and over and over

we made our baby sister laugh...
and gave Spiderman a piece of our minds- we're watching you, Spidey...
And we painted/snacked on pudding paints. Some of us, (ahem, Sam) did more snacking than painting, but hey, that's okay!

Are those actual wooden blocks?? We have some foam blocks here (because of the boys' throwing problem) and they don't stack very well. We've been disappointed. Wooden blocks are so much more satisfying. Your boys don't throw them? Maybe I should try again with the wood toys...

Yep, actual wood. The only time someone gets hurt is when there is an overly aggressive knock-down (often!) or a fight after someone knocks down a work-in-progress. At this particular time, Sam was asleep, so it was just me and Jack playing with the blocks. I want to use my pampers rewards to get the Melissa and Doug big natural wood shaped blocks. These are cute, but you can't build anything too big. We use the Megabloks alot too. We have a TON of those. And the fav toy of all in our house is the geotrax train sets. My boys have a bunch and they will play happily with those for HOURS in their playroom constructing tracks and playing engineer.

The boys got GeoTrax for Christmas from my mother-in-law and they love them! They have never been into cars and trucks so I wasn't sure how it would go over, but they are great! The only thing that's not great is how it feels when I step on them in the middle of the night.

My mom got us a couple sets of the big building bricks (from Lillan Vernon) and they are a big hit for building roads and "houses" (more like layouts) for stuffed animals. They were on sale for $6/set right before Cmas -- looks like they are $10 now but surely they'll go down again.

I am encouraged and maybe will try wooden blocks with my crew again! The foam ones won't stack, plus the baby can chew pieces off them and I worry she'll choke. Mouth splinters I can deal with. ;)

I hear you/feel you on the Geotrax foot injury thing. That has happened MANY times around here, and I think Sam does it a billion times a day! Yeah, the foam stuff gets destroyed in no time. We had some foam balls and Sam took HUGE chunks out of those (and of course left tiny bits of it spewed around the house- LOVELY!) Course it beats some of the other stuff he has "spewed" around our house ;-)
